Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad

We all know the soda company Pepsi, it's a company that is known around the world and it has a lot of eyes viewing them. Pepsi is known for their advertisements as well,  like the Michael Jackson commercial or most recently the Kendall Jenner commercial. This Kendall Jenner commercial has made many people mad, especially people from the group known as Black Lives Matter. Where did Pepsi go wrong in this ad and why did it make so many people angry?

In this ad, there was a peaceful protest going on while Kendall Jenner was doing a photo shoot. As she saw the protest going on, she felt that it was the right thing to leave her photo shoot and join this protest. Pepsi did not say or show what this protest was about, but it seemed like a good and peaceful one. When Kendall finally joined this protest, she grabbed a Pepsi and handed it to the police officer that was standing in front of the protest. After that, everyone celebrated and the commercial ended. This is where Pepsi got a lot of backlash from people. People got mad because they thought that Pepsi was portraying that everything that is bad in the world today (Racial tension, woman's rights, political drama, etc.) could all be stopped with a can of Pepsi. They also thought that Pepsi took these things as a joke and that they just care about people buying their product. Since then, Pepsi has apologized for the ad and so has Kendall Jenner which was the right and only thing they could've done.

In my opinion, I don't think the Pepsi ad was trying to make fun of the problems that are happening in the world today, I just think that they didn't portray their message properly which lead people to think that this ad was poking fun at these different social activists groups. Companies nowadays have to remember that when they're trying to touch on these sensitive topics they need to make sure that their message is being portrayed properly because if people get the wrong message, the first thing they're going to do is go on twitter, facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat and tell their followers their opinion. With Pepsi's case, a lot of people told their opinions and most of those opinions were not good. So in conclusion, I think Pepsi just needs to look over their ads properly.
